Summary/Abstract: Central America is the most exposed to floods, earthquakes and cyclones. According to various sources the number of these phenomena increases in the region. Their occurrence often causes death or injuries of a lot of people and as a result it decreases the quality of life in the region. In the years 1900-2011 616 natural disasters affected over 38 million people and caused the damages estimated at over 52 billion USD. In the face of these worrying facts it is necessary to make the analysis of this kind of phenomena and counteract their effects. This article describes the occurrence of natural disasters in the region of Central America and the international cooperation in the field of counteracting their results by the chosen organizations.
