Assessing public speaking skills of future primary school teachers

Summary/Abstract: Starting from some trivial and empiric observation on the quality of public speaking competencies within the professional group of Romanian primary school teachers, I have designed an evaluation grid in order to assess the public speaking skills of future primary school teachers. The results of this small exercise show that public speaking is far from being a trump in the hands of future teachers. From this perspective, this article is the equivalent of a plea for the introduction of public speaking classes in teacher training programs.
