TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES FOR SPECIFIC PURPOSES – THE CASE OF MEDICAL ENGLISH AND ROMANIAN

Summary/Abstract: Abstract The teaching of foreign languages for specific purposes is a significant component of the Romanian higher education system, this aspect holding importance because now our country is part of a much larger international scientific context than it was in the past. The English medical language represents a complex lexical field that can be simplified due to certain important principles, which, once acquired by the students, can help them obtain good results, leading to a successful interaction with the other professionals of the international medical system. Rezumat Predarea limbilor străine pentru scopuri specifice este o componentă importantă a învăţământului românesc superior, acest aspect fiind unul esenţial deoarece ţara noastră face acum parte dintr-un context internaţional ştiinţific mult mai larg decât în trecut. Limba engleză şi limba română medicală reprezintă domenii lexicale complexe ce pot fi simplificate datorită unor principii importante care, odată însuşite de studenţi, îi pot ajuta să obţină rezultate bune, astfel încât ei să interacţioneze cu succes cu ceilalţi profesionişti din sistemul medical internaţional.
