Summary/Abstract: In accordance with the purpose of their visit Bulgarians who visited Italy during 18 and 19 centuries are divided into several groups: 1. For education; 2. For a short period, living or working in Italy; 3. Traveling (with a private purpose or public mission); 4. Fighting in Garibaldi's troops. The part of the graduates in Italy is relatively small, but after the Liberation the number of Bulgarian graduates in Italy significantly increases. Special interest provokes the impressions from Italy described by some of the visitors (M. Drinov, St. Panaretov, M. Madzharov, M. Balabanov, K Velichkov, D. Daniilov) in their letters, travel notes, memoirs and biographies.
