Summary/Abstract: The present article discusses the parallels between the works of Anton Holban and Marcel Proust as far as the problem of death is concerned. Both authors believe that death, although it is one of the most important aspects of our existence, is ignored by the majority of people. Therefore, when they have to face it, they behave in an inappropriate way – they are indifferent or rude. Both writers are obsessed with the vision of their own inevitable end. Proust, however, finds some consolation in his writing, hoping that his work will survive his death.
