Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of this article was to analyse the conditions created at the university to support auto-education in the perception of students of pedagogics of the University of Silesia in Katowice. Document analysis method was used in the study. The analysis and interpretation covered documents intentionally created — essays, i.e. written students’ expressions regarding subjects which are significant from the scientific perspective. The participants’ task was to express their opinion on the specific components of university activity, i.e. methods and forms of education, curriculum content, relation between the teacher and student, venue, time, financial and organisational conditions in terms of their significance for the course and level of students’ auto-education.
