Summary/Abstract: The subject of this paper are the alternations of the place of etimological *ĕ in the adjective inflection of the standard Bulgarian and Croatian languages. The functional-analytical approach which examines the mor(pho)phonologic alternations as peripheral modifiers of the grammar categories is used in the analysis of the mor(pho)phonologic structures. A similar approach adequately solves the alternationʼs status in the two languages, enabling functional-typological analysis.
