Summary/Abstract: In the period from Liberation (1878) till 1944, when one of the main objectives of the Bulgarian state policy was to unite the lands inhabited by Bulgarians in Macedonia, Thrace and Dobrudzha, the work of St. St. Cyril and Methodius and their disciples became a symbol of national identity and national unity. That is why research on the life and literary activities of St. St. Cyril and Methodius and their disciples became an area of utmost scholarly interest. In the Scientific Archives of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences different types of documents are preserved (official papers, reports from research missions, personal letters, photocopies of manuscripts, all scattered in various funds) that provide interesting information about the birth of Cyrillo-Methodian studies in Bulgaria. The article aims to present and summarize all information pertaining to the activities of two committees constituted in the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences - the Commission on St. Kliment (1914-1916) and the Commission for the edition of the sources on the life and work of St. St. Cyril and Methodius (1934-1945).
