Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to show the problem of the responsibility for caring for the older people in China in the context of the cultural aspects of intergenerational solidarity. The high proportion of people aged 65 and over in the population of China has made the government and Chinese society face the challenges of coping with the problems of the ageing population. These problems are also associated with the wider care for older people, which in China has a strong cultural background expressed even in “the virtue of filial piety.” Addressing these problems or mitigating the effects of the lack of sufficiently effective solutions, involves the supporting of intergenerational solidarity.
