Summary/Abstract: Innovation projects are of high importance in organizations. Company’s success is determined by the results of innovation projects. In the article; the key characteristics of innovation projects are outlined; as well as their determinants. The traditional approach to managing innovation projects is discussed. It is argued that; nowadays; such an approach is insufficient as the organizational environment is turbulent and a high risk of failure is associated with innovation projects. Based on these considerations; the parallel application of the agile methods in innovation project management is proposed. The main characteristics of that new approach are presented; as are contrasts to traditional project management. The advantages of that new approach are shown in relation to attaining the business goals of the organization; higher flexibility in product change management and a more expeditious response to changes within the turbulent environment of the organization.
