At the beginning of the 60s of the twentieth century they got interested in this subject. However; the studies of the role of the man as well as their skills in the economy had been carried out before. Over the years; human capital was considered as an element of intellectual capital. Both of these capitals and their development are included in the activity of enterprises. This article presents the genesis and essence of the recognition of human capital as a part of the intellectual capital comprising the reflections of some economists on human capital and the interpretation of intellectual capital issue; as well as its components. Due to limited length of the article only a selective presentation of views of researchers dealing with depicted issues was possible.
