Summary/Abstract: This study tries to underline the main articulations of Bachelard’s metaphysics. In fact, we focused upon the central aspects of his philosophy, concerning the relationship between the psychology and the metaphysics, as a determined response to the classic tradition of European philosophy. Even if the metaphysics of Bachelard doesn’t reach the empire of the speculative reason, the concept as substance, it remains on the level of judgment and intellect (if not on the level of feeling and intuition), opposed to any material universality. Pointing out the existence of the diffused convergence (concept – limage, rational –imaginative), the metaphysics of Bachelard succeeds in finding out a balance and a profound unity inner to this duality. The metaphysics of Bachelard pleads in the benefit of human values as a natural and creative exercise of freedom.
