Summary/Abstract: The anthropology of imagination proposes the continuum and the constituent reference to primordial man in which it originates, starting from a unified centre, the sides of which all send to the mirror, to man in the world. The anthropology of imagination, therefore surpasses the dualistic opposition between the I and the non-I, between body and soul, a consequence of the study of the profane cosmos. The anthropology of imagination does not claim to be a simple collection of images, myths, poetical themes, tropes; rather it seeks to elaborate the picture of man’s hopes and fears. What the anthropology of imagination does is to allow for the recognition, indeed the identification of positive thinking with the mythical one, of mythical thinking with the civilized one. Orientating itself towards the horizon of a universal meaning, the anthropology of imagination manages to reconcile the archaeological with the eschatological, the existence of the archetypical limits, of the individual and collective behaviour with the spiritual creative freedom.
