Summary/Abstract: From the birth of philosophy, the « I » looks for the « self », both structural figures that gain expression in songs. Solitude or isolation ? Isolation has been considered a means (« caring for the self») to modify this « self » that we think of as being wise : isolation in the garden, isolation of yourself in the middle of society. But these techniques that were happily practiced during Antiquity are transformed into dramatic isolation and loneliness – a « two in one » of the modern times. Or, as some say, it is not the man who is alone, but humanity itself, cut from its external meaning that may have justified it.
