Summary/Abstract: Art is a specific human activity that requires a special type of education. It is particularly true if one wants to achieve a high level of students' preparedness for post-study challenges posed by the original and creative distinctiveness and art market as a possibility for diverse creative activity and securing an artist's and man's life. Any attempt to institutionalize artistic education through any type of education necessarily faces the opposition of education as institution and art as free human creation. Bologna process, as a unique European higher education system is only one of the attempts, perhaps the best one so far, to join art and education into the best possible institutionalized system. Bologna process is a challenge to the modern age, which seeks civilizational ways out in all the spheres of human activity, including education. On the other hand, the position of art and art education in BH society and consequently at the University in Sarajevo is not the one that could satisfy Bologna Process’ requirements, which can be seen in the failure to recognize the basic forms of art education that have been accepted by overall Bologna. The cause for this is the unfavorable treatment of art education in legal provisions and rules, and then in financial, human resources, physical and every other support that would allow a satisfactory legal and material status of art education. The purpose of this symposium communication is to warn of problems and outline their possible solutions.
