Summary/Abstract: This article presents the activity of the Romanian intellectuals in Spain during the second half of the XXth century (1944-1989), when Romania and other Eastern and Southeastern European countries were under the influence of the Soviet Union. Following the establishment of communism in Romania, those who disagreed with the forced imposition of the new totalitarian ideology were forced into exile to other countries, including Spain. They had to adapt to a different language, a different reality and integrate into society. The Franco regime welcomed them with open arms. Some of them worked in some of the most prestigious universities in Spain (George Uscătescu and Horia Vintilă were professors at the University Complutense of Madrid). We will briefly present the work of some of the most outstanding exiled. One of the main activities of these intellectuals was to disseminate the Romanian culture not only within their own community through the publication of a number of magazines in Romanian, but also in Spanish society. From their exile they fought constantly to alert the West about the difficult situation in which Romanians were, who had to endure many injustices by the dictatorial regime.
