Sustainable development of rural areas in territorial partnership strategies

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the possibilities and problems of stimulating sustainable development of rural areas on the example of the activity of LAG. The opinions were chosen within the inquiry method in 2010 among 182 representatives coming from 14 local activity groups functioning on Warmia and Mazury voivodeship. The aims and activities implemented by LAG within local development strategy become part of the sustainable development ideas, as they include mainly: − economy development support, including local entrepreneurship, cooperation of enterprises and local products support, − popularization and support of different social initiatives, − promotion of rational utilization of local resources, mainly natural environment, − space management, on the example of prospects including tourism tracks, village renovation, etc., − cooperation development within territorial partnerships with the participation of representatives of different sectors of socio-economic village life.
