Problems of Translating Idioms in the Context of Russian to Czech Fiction Translations

Summary/Abstract: The contribution is aimed to indicate some sides of the problems of translating of idioms in two typologically and genetically related languages, on the background of development of Russian to Czech fiction translations. In the reception history of the Russian literature in the Czech culture, taking into consideration the development of translating of idioms, the author settels four developing periods, analyzing them from the point of view of methods and strategies for translating of idioms. At the end the author attempts to set objective, and subjective factors affecting mutual relations between idiom in the original and its counterpart in the target language.
