Summary/Abstract: In the present, detective literature has no more detractors. It has been evolving conquering the world and now its domain has no boundaries and even theological matters are being questioned in the form of a detective novel. Looking closely at Umberto Eco (“The Name of the Rose”) and Dan Brown (“DaVinci Code”) , in Spain, contemporary authors of detective novels prefer to mix the detective plot with historic and artistic information, etc. A novel sometimes seems like a painting treatise, or a Chemistry textbook. Nowadays they write very intellectual and witty, multifaceted detective novels that imply very different intertextualities. There are many representatives of this new tendency. Arturo Perez-Reverte, Juan Manuel de Prada, José Carlos Somoza, Matilde Asensi, Carlos Ruiz Zafón, Julia Navarro, Javier Sierra and Ildefonso Falcones.
