Summary/Abstract: The article overviews the poetry for children written by Ana Blandiana during the ninth decade of the 20th century in the attempt to reveal the ambivalent character of several texts from the following volumes: Întâmplări din grădina mea (Incidents in My Garden, 1980), Alte întâmplări din grădina mea (Other Incidents in My Garden, 1983) and Întâmplări de pe strada mea (Incidents in My Street, 1988). Although at a first reading, poems depict a fictitious world, populated by funny vegetal and animal characters, imagined to amuse and educate children, whom they are primarily addressed to, a deeper hermeneutic approach allows a “competent” adult reader to discover and decipher familiar aspects of the political, social and economic Romanian context of the 1980’s.
