Summary/Abstract: According to Edgar Degas, the arts are inexplicably connected in spirit and sense, but individual in their production. This paper aims at discovering similarities and differences between a symbolist poem by Paul Valéry and some impressionist-realistic paintings by Edgar Degas in terms of perspective on dance and dancers. In what regards both the poet Paul Valéry and the painter Edgar Degas, we notice the penchant for the theme of dance and the motif of the dancers captured in different poses and settings. Much of the work of the two French artists was inspired by the world of dance, and ballerinas became for them like muses.
