Summary/Abstract: The article presented the tourism policy issues of the European Union and selected countries in terms of dissemination of tourist mobility of EU citizens, especially selected social groups. Indicators of tourist activity societies of the EU countries vary widely. EU policy focuses on activation of tourism selected social groups: children and youth, seniors, people with disabilities. Domestic policies also affect social groups with low material status. Today, it must be held that tourism should be a public good. The actions of the EU and member states allow impact on economic growth, thanks to fuller use of tourist accommodation that many countries are characterized by a high level of seasonality. Tourism is therefore an important effect on macro- and microeconomic, and above all to the labor market, revenues of the tourism industry and income of employees in tourism businesses. Thanks runs multiplier effects in the economy. The aim of the study is to present the state's role in the tourism economy, through the tasks related to the impact on tourism demand, affecting the universal access to tourism and thus reducing social inequalities.
