Summary/Abstract: Defining the success of the project and what criteria of this project will determine it as successful seems to be even more difficult in the case of public projects than in business projects. It can be assumed that they will be different for different groups of stakeholders. This article reviews the empirical research on the success of the project according to the project management specialists. The most important success criteria is a positive evaluation (attitude; satisfaction) by the inhabitants (local community) and the most important condition for the success of public project is social acceptance (attitude of inhabitants). The results of the study are part of a larger research project; whose expected result is to define the term of a public project success.
