Summary/Abstract: The subject of linear ordering can be objects such as countries (due to the level of economic development), business (due to financial condition), products (due to usability). Such characteristics as the level of economic development, financial condition, usability are variables whose realizations are not directly measurable. These variables are aggregates whose values are generated by observations of diagnostic variables that are directly measur-able. The estimated realisations of synthetic variable allow for ordering multi-dimensional objects in terms of preference relations (domination). In the area of economics first linear ordering method was presented by Z. Hellwig in 1968, while that on the decisions theory by C.L. Hwang and Yoon K. in 1981. The purpose of this article is to compare the results of linear ordering (ranking) obtained by these methods and the presentation of computational procedures in R allow conducting comparative analyzes.
