Summary/Abstract: This study analyzes U.S. Kosovo policy from the U.S. perspective independent from Turkish-American relations. Specifically, within the scope of Clinton Doctrine, the United States took steps together with the international community by mobilizing such institutions as the UN and NATO in humanitarian military interventions towards the Balkans. However, this action also set up the background for the establishment of a global U.S. hegemony and the infrastructure for the future interventions. With the U.S.-led NATO intervention, security was relatively provided in Kosovo and finally Kosovo gained its independence. This study demonstrates continuity and change in U.S. Kosovo policy from the breakup of Yugoslavia to the present, and examines the objectives of U.S. hegemony in the Balkans.
