Formation of Future Teachers' Management Competence

Summary/Abstract: Political, economic, organizational changes, technological development, and globalization are the main features of modern society that determine innovation in different spheres. Along with these changes, educational system also changes. Nowadays rapid change challenges teacher trainers and their management competence. Teacher's management competence and its permanent improvement are the main factors, which influence teacher's professional improvement and ąualitative activities. The aim of die artide is to analyze the formation of students' management competence during the pedagogical practice. The methods of research are: 1) analysis of scientific literature, 2) ąuestionnaire, 3) experience research, 4) analysis of statistic data. The ąuestionnaires were aimed to uncover the attitudes of future teachers towards the management competence. Experience research was aimed to disdose students' point ofviewtowards the formation of pedagogical competence during the practice. 306 students - future teachers - participated in the research (the students of Vilnius Pedagogical University). The results of the research have shown that organizational competency is evaluated by the students as one the most importam components of management competence. However, they evaluate their organizational competency as one of the lowest. In the beginning of the pedagogical practice and after giving the practice dasses the students gavę the best evaluation to their command competency. After giving the valid lessons it was noted that students' competencies had improved. Students gavę the best evaluation to the competencies of leadership of the projects, command, and organization of non-formal education. Components of future teacher's management competence correlate during different stages of the pedagogical practice therefore it can be stated that improvement of one component influences improvement of the whole management competence. It is recommended to organize teacher training using the methods that ensure development of students' management competency.
