Managerial Competency of a Professional Advisor in a Comprehensive School

Summary/Abstract: A professional advisor is a person who gives high quality information to aimed groups about professions, qualifications and career possibilities. Entering the century of knowledge when lifelong learning becomes a necessity following a new paradigm of learnIng, implementation of a European dimension in educations condition relevance of the development of managerial competency of a professional advisor. Research objective was to disclose attitudes of professional advisors towards managerial competency of a professional advisor. Research object was managerial competency of a professional advisor. Research methods: analysis of scientific literature; analysis of documents, questionnaire-based survey, statistical analysis of research data. 156 professional advisors took part in the research. The respondents were surveyed in 78 com-prehensive schools. The study results have indicated that the most important competencies are management of information, organization and planning. Improvement of a Professional advisor's managerial competency is one of the most important factors predetermining quality of professional orientation. Big attention should be paid to the development of a Professional advisor's managerial competency.
