EU Cohesion Policy Funds in the context of sustainable development of Polish regions

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the absorption of EU cohesion policy funds and the level of sustainable development of Polish regions. The size of the EU funds absorption was estimated based on the database of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development. The level of sustainable development of regions was determined by TOPSIS method using the indicators from Local Data Bank. There is no correlation between both values – Pearson correlation coefficient was only 0.18. There was also no significant correlation between the intervention of individual funds and the areas of sustainable development (with the exception of a moderate relationship between the expenditure of Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance and economic governance).
