Summary/Abstract: The article aims to present and analyze the dynamics of the major armed conflicts in 2015. This year, the authors focus on conflicts in the Middle East – Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Yemen, and in North Africa – Libya. It is argued that the conflict in Syria has been growing in intensity and complexity due to several ‘parallel wars’ going on in this country, and the involvement of many different actors. The intensity is growing also in Iraq, while the security situation in Afghanistan has sharply declined after foreign troops withdrawal and the end of NATO’s combat mission. The article also explores the significantly more intensive conflict in Yemen, and it analyzes the roots and implications of the Arab states’ intervention in this country. Finally, it focuses on Libya, where, in spite of the peace process initiated under the auspices of the UN, fightings have been going on between different armed groups and in different parts of the country.
