Summary/Abstract: Volunteering is defined as voluntary and unpaid activity, that exceed friend, family and colleague commitments. It is interesting why people involve in volunteering and what motives they have. One can explain volunteer activity based on Reykowski`s theory of prosocial behaviours. Analysis of volunteer motivation shows that their behaviours are prosocial. Volunteering is perceived as investment or mutual exchange. Their prosocial behaviours are aid and cooperative, not altruistic. One can say altruism is not most important reason for being volunteers at mega events (short-term, episodic volunteering). It is essential information for organizations which engage volunteers.
