Summary/Abstract: The former post communist period, though very effervescent in the domain of international economic relationships, had as finality an almost anarchic development of Romania, the discrepancy between the volume of exports and the one of imports becoming for the population and national economy unbearable. It followed, and in a way we may say it still is in display, a long process of transition from the centralized economic system and a totalitarian political system to a functional market policy and a multipartite democratic regime. In this order of ideas, all the economic-social or political phenomena that occurred in the last 16 years, including the international commerce of Romania, were influenced or decisively determinated by this process of transition, adaptation, creation or modifications of structures that will allow an adequately functioning of the Romanian economy.
