Summary/Abstract: The paper presents outomes of the research on institutional support for innovation transfer to the food processing sector. The key objective of this research was the verification of policy and law adjustment to the situation in food processing sector in terms of innovativeness improvement. The programming documents, law of Poland and data of Central Statistical Office were the empirical material for this research. The research shows that food processing has a significant contribution to Polish GDP and job creation. However, its significance for Polish economy results from the growing competitiveness on the European market. Unfortunately its competitivenes still results from low labour costs instead of innovativeness. Initiated trends in law may, however, contribute to some improvement of sector innovativeness through their impact on the development of business environment.
