Summary/Abstract: The author discusses the assumptions behind research carried out in the form of an ethnographic re-study during the Jarocin rock music festival in 2015. The research project was repeated after 30 years – using the same research tool (a questionnaire) and results of studies performed years ago – was intended to look for relationships between music, values and culture as such. To achieve multi-dimensional picture, it was not limited only to conducting surveys (a total of 400), but also used other tools: interviews, field recording, and visual registration (photos, videos, drawings). Its conclusions confirmed assumption that attitudes and musical tastes are deeply rooted culturally. Other distinct trends included sentimentalisation of past editions of the festival (especially from the 1980s), topophilia (for places significant to the festival) and generationality (expressed in an effort to create community between the old and new participants of the festival).
