Summary/Abstract: The social capital is often defined as the expression of the institutions, relationships, attitudes and values that govern interactions between people and contribute to economic development. From the perspective of sustainable development, social capital plays a key role through relationships and networks between individuals, and thus facilitates communication, exchange of resources, information and knowledge flow. Therefore, the creation of a relational framework and institutional environment, based on trust, solidarity, cohesion and social inclusion, tolerance and so on allows the growth performance of a nation in terms of prosperity and well-being of its members. This article aims to highlight new approaches of sustainable development, emphasizing the role of social capital and education in the process of acquiring skills to improve economic and environmental conditions.
