Summary/Abstract: The article examines two newly discovered inscriptions of the runica bulgarica type engraved on gold-plated metal parts of a music horn. The horn is 35 cm long and is of an Asian cattle, with a specific internal device for music making. The small inscription is near the tip of the horn and contains 15 runic characters (fig. 2). The second inscription is on the metal part at the lower end with 33 characters (fig. 3). The characters are separate and between them there are no ligatures as are encountered in the Old Bulgarian runic inscriptions of the 7th–10th с. Some of these signs in appearance are similar to the Syiao-Churan writing (small type) of the end с. В. С. The Sofia music horn with the two runing inscriptions and certain additional signs on it justify our view that it was with a ritual-shamanic designation, used by the Proto-Bulgarians in military operations.
