CORRESPONDENCE AMONG THE PRINCIPLES OF THE NEW WAR, ARMED BATTLE AND INTELLIGENCE ACTIVITY

Summary/Abstract: The new look of the security environment requires an analysis of the laws and principles of armed battle in order to apply it in a creative manner and for a clear vision of the future geopolitical configurations. These principles lie at the interface between the political and military fields, also between political decision and implementation. While laws are predetermined, principles are flexible and may change in the sense of improving them. In the present context, the question is whether it is more appropriate to retain old principles of war (armed battle) as a set of principles for any kind of armed conflict and to modify only where necessary or whether it is better to have set modern principles of war, adapted to modern warfare in all its forms and in all the settings encountered.
