Summary/Abstract: Methods of professional and research work in archival theory and practice are complex. The complexity can be detected through the researches of the natures and modalities of implementation of each method or its combination. Another area of complexity represents their implementation in everyday professional archival work.Archival professionals use in the practice a number of methods described in this paper. Practical problems arise out of different reasons. One of them is that the implementations of particular methods are not always in relation with instructions for their use. This means that the archivist implements some methods regarding to his own experiences and to the experiences of archivist predecessors. In these cases it can happen that the methodological solutions are not adequately implemented. In complex archival information systems an inadequate use of methods can result as system entropy. In these contexts there can arise different professional and organizational requirements. Basic are further researches in the archives about professional and research working methods. Closely connected to them is the continuing education requirement for the proper application methods in archival theory and practice. The above requirements are a prerequisite for the request for a consistent implementation of archival methods of professional and research work in archives and other archival activities in accordance with professional archival principles.
