Summary/Abstract: This paper examines the Romanian reception of a reputed English Canadian writer of science fiction, William Gibson, via the translations from his novels and the critical studies published in periodicals. Our aim is to establish the place of the SF genre in postcommunism, based on the allegations in the Romanian Translation Studies discourse and assess the writer’s role in the Romanian cultural and literary polysystem as compared to other Canadian authors.
