Summary/Abstract: The present article is an attempt to support the idea about an influence on the medieval Scandinavian literature rooted in the Byzantine-Slavic cultural and religious community. A parallel is drawn between two Old Bulgarian tales, “The Miracle with Georgi, the Bulgarian”, and “The Miracle with Kliment, the Bulgarian” and the literary tradition about the Baptism of King Boris I, on the one hand, and two chapters from Odd Munk Snorreson’s Saga about Olav Tryggvasson, on the other. Attention is paid to some historical circumstances from the 11th century which could have been a prerequisite for the transfer of the Old Bulgarian literary tradition to Scandinavia.
