Summary/Abstract: The study focuses on the role of the unsaid in Philippideřs poetry. The unsaid is usually more powerful and more poetic. Its expression pervades his entire lyrism, pointing out the lyrical egořs singularity among people. Silence comes from a biographic source, given the unsaid is a sign of solitude in a society where the individual is restricted by formal rules in writing. The unsaid is expressed in many different ways, regarding different levels. It can be felt in the heart of nature, in the decoration of his room, in his senses, which are now turned down, and also in his soul. The lyrical ego cannot hear anymore, and his soul is empty, its voice being silent. The term ,,silenceŗ is frequently encountered throughout Philippideřs poetry, as well as other derivatives or equivalent terms. Its frequency indicates a modern way of living, feeling and perceiving.
