Summary/Abstract: This paper focuses on Karen Blixenřs Seven Gothic Tales (1934), a collection of short stories, a dialogue between the classic and the modern influences. The writer uses typical Romantic motifs, but she also appeals to several myths and legends, therefore the works can be seen as allegorical tales which depict, in a parodic manner, the transition from classic to modern, in a resemantisation of well-known literary patterns.
