Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the features of the use of different types of classification features acronyms in the language of modern Ukrainian press, paid special attention to the differences in their use for spelling norms and functioning. It is educed that the investigated theme was not the article of monographic study, although its separate aspects found a reflection in labours of Ukrainian and foreign scientists, but a sources base is sufficient for the study of theme. In the modern Ukrainian press abbreviations are used quite widely (about 6.8 on page A3). The most noticeable group consists of initial abbreviations (idest such that consist of initial letters), thus voice abbreviations (those, thatpronounced together) less than, than those,that pronounced by a letter, and alphanumeric and voice-number abbreviations on the whole a bit. Partial abbreviations (where briefly only the first word) on the whole more than fragmental (those, thatconsisted of syllables). The educed facts allow to assert that repressing amount of abbreviations of aggregate type and partial abbreviations used in printing, present abbreviations in composition that there is abromorfems (syllable that meets in many abbreviations and has the defined value). Most distribution was in printing got by such abromorfems as держ-(державний –state), сіль-(сільський –rural), укр-(український –Ukrainian), мін-(міністерство –ministry), рай-(районний –district), агро-(аграрний –agrarian), спец-(спеціальний –special).
