Summary/Abstract: As part of the Albanian political elite’s endeavors to react promptly to the centralizing policy of the Young Turks, making aware the international factor and ensuring its support for the Albanian cause was considered of immediate importance. In this context, the attempts of Albanians matched with the activity of the Balkan Committee of London. The Balkan Committee of London was founded in the British capital in 1903, influenced by the events of that same year in Macedonia. The main aim of this Committee was to achieve cooperation among Balkan countries in order to come to an agreement which would ensure more rights for the region’s peoples that were still part of the Ottoman Empire. Although the Albanian cause was not a direct concern of its activity, the Balkan Committee of London was active in relation to the Albanian uprisings of 1910-1912. The Committee focused its work on two aspects: in raising the awareness of the British public opinion, gathering and delivering aid for the Albanian mountaineers of the northern regions, and the organization of a Balkan uprising. Due to an intensive awareness campaign the Balkan Committee of London raised the public and political interest in Britain concerning the fate of the Ottoman Empire. The Committee had been successful in making British aware of the uprisings in Albania and the difficult humanitarian situation there. However, it had failed in its attempts to join the Balkan political actors in organizing a pan-Balkan uprising, an undertaking well beyond its reach.
