Summary/Abstract: When Petro Marko decides to confess to history, before his death, in addition to the pact he has signed with history, he has simultaneously signed a pact with his reader. He has chosen intentionally to be a confessor and a witness of a life “that was never lived apart, but in line with history and people”. Our interest as a researcher and a reader before signing this pact, doesn’t include the entire work of Marko, but is more closely related to the presence in two of his works as a fellow inmate and a novel character, of a known Italian anti-fascist: Antonio (Vincenzo) Gigante. We followed on the footsteps of Stamerra who found traces of Antonio Gigante in one of Petro Markos’s writings. Afiter scrutinizing this piece we found that found that Petro Marko had devoted whole pages to the figure of A. Gigante. Could these references to the known Italian anti-fascist serve as concrete historical data to fill in the gaps of his personal history? In this article we will try to present how much the personal truth (subjective) of Petro Marko approaches the historical one (objective); where they match and where they differ.
