Summary/Abstract: A representative quantitative survey with random sampling was conducted in Slovakia in autumn 2014. The survey was carried out in the framework of the ISSP international programme and was supported by the Slovak Research and Development Agency. In terms of contents, the survey focused on two research modules: national identity and citizenship. The study deals with national pride issues, including the sources and shared ideas about the characteristics of the “true Slovak”. The profiling of pride can also be observed in the perception of close countries and the evaluation of the dangerous countries. This profiling is also proven by changed public support for the assimilation of minorities and immigrants. To a smaller extent, the study is also based on other data obtained in the past.
