Summary/Abstract: Presented study has the character of scientific consideration or scientific essay. Its author investigates the relationship or even conflict of classical antique rhetoric with modern rhetoric of the 20th and early 21st century. He draws attention to the disintegration of the original ideals and principles of classical rhetoric and its inclination to verbalism and selfpresentation that may have in many cases quite speculative or manipulative character. The reason of this methodological transformation and ideological relativization sees both in the wider historical and social-cultural contexts, and also in the interdisciplinary understanding of rhetoric as a result of destabilization of its research subject. Subsequently author explicate possibilities of using classical and modern rhetoric in praxis of journalism.
