Summary/Abstract: The key issue in the group decision making process is a way of reflecting the preferences of partakers and aggregation of these preferences. Lack of clear, theoretical indications in this area makes it impossible to clearly identify the optimal solution. Thus, as a consequence, trials to solve these problems require the adoption of a number of arbitrary assumptions. An example of this type of problems is the allocation of pupils to classes, taking into account the preferences in relation to teacher and other pupils. The purpose of this article is to present the possibilities of using mathematical modeling to solve such a problem and to assess how the result depends on the method of defining preferences.
