Summary/Abstract: Over the past decade, Russia and Azerbaijan managed to overcome the disintegration processes of the 90-ies of the last century and every year to increase the volume of mutual trade. Azerbaijan has close ties with states in relations with which Russia is interested. This is primarily Turkey and Iran, the Central Asian states. As major energy exporters, Russia and Azerbaijan are interested in joint transnational projects on their processing and transportation. This article presents an analysis of the cooperation of countries exporting energy resources of Russia and Azerbaijan with regard to the diversity of their foreign trade strategy.
