Summary/Abstract: The main aim of the article is to present Władysław Bartoszewski's views on the position and the role of Poland in Europe after 1989. The core of the article is the analysis of Bartoszewski's opinions about the subject of the development of biratelar relations between Poland and Germany, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus in the new geopolitical reality. The relations influence the geopolitical position of our country. The analysis is carried out in relation to the process of establishing priorities of Polish foreign policy. The process which was caused by the end of bipolar division of the world. What is more, the analysis can be regarded as an impulse to the scientific reflection on the postulated connection between politics and geopolitics
