Foreign capital in the Polish international road freight companies – the assessment of activity

Summary/Abstract: The paper describes the involvement of foreign investors in the Polish sector of international road freight haulers. That foreign capital started to invest in that sector just after the year 1989, but it has never been able to reach the dominant position there. It influenced that sector stronger only at the beginning of the 90s, when these companies were able to maintain some advantages over companies belonging to Polish owners. These advantages were connected with capital and knowledge – experience. Nevertheless in the next years these advantages possessed by the companies owned by foreign investors were successively eliminated by the Polish-capital-owned companies. As a result, these companies now dominate in that sector. The paper is based mainly on the information received in the companies and the analysis of source materials gained in the companies themselves and information available on the Internet and in printed sources.
